The most important thing to focus on when driving the ball is to be relaxed. When you step up to the ball, you want to have a nice and loose grip. Most people think that you need to grip the club really tightly, but the exact opposite is what is needed. Watch tour pros and you will find that their swings are extremely fluid and loose. My favorites to watch are Tiger, Ernie Els, and Trevor Immelman.

Step2
The second thing that you should know is keep your head down through the whole swing. It sounds like a very simple step, but it is one of the most common problems with amateur golfers. You should not be following the ball’s flight, you should be focused on the spot where you hit the ball. To really get this feeling down, just ask your partner you are golfing with to watch your ball the whole time, and you just stare at the same spot all the way through your swing without looking up, just trusting that the ball is going straight down the middle. By keeping your eye on the ball all the way through your swing you will be making the best CONTACT possible, thus increasing your yardage on your drives.

Step3
Release later in your swing. The best drivers of the golf ball release very late in their downswing. The further down your downswing you can get without releasing early, the further you are going to hit the ball. Once you have mastered this new swing you will find increasing power that you only dreamed about.

Step4
The next tip is to lengthen your swing. When you swing through the ball, be sure you are extending all the way through the ball. You don’t want your arms to be in tight and bent, but instead you want to extend all the way through the ball. A good way to try this is imagine multiple balls teed up directly in front of your own ball. Then when you swing through your ball imagine that you want to make good contact with all the balls in front of it. If your club is still making good swings on the balls in front of your real one, than you are following through correctly. This will help you focus on hitting THROUGH the ball rather than pulling up short after you just hit the ball.

Step5
The next tip is your rotation. A good way to check if you are rotating correctly is if your shirts left shoulder is getting worn out. Your chin should be consistently touching that part of your shoulder in your back swing.

Step6
Probably the most important tip is properly transferring your energy throughout the swing. If you are swinging through the ball when all your weight is still on your back foot, you are most likely not hitting the ball very far at all. You want to make sure that when you are swinging through the ball all your weight has been shifted towards your front leg and all your energy is moving through the ball. The pros make their swings look so effortless because they have impeccable timing, perfect energy transfers, and extremely fluid motions.

Step7
Practice is very important. Very few people are blessed with the ability to immediately hit the ball 300 yards, but with these new tips, you will be bangin out 300 yard drives in no time!!!

Step8
The next step is to practice. A great piece of advice is to swing with an empty mind. I know it sounds hard, but the more you have going on in your head the worse you are going to do. Do some practice swings with my tips in mind and groove them into your memory, then step up to the ball and just swing. Never start questioning yourself during your swing.

Step9
The last peice of advice I have to give is remember the feeling of a good swing. Be sure to ask yourself AFTER(not during!!!)every swing, Why did that feel good or bad? What did I do differently that swing than last and so on…Eventually you will be able to make adjustments and groove the perfect swing into your muscle memory!

Step10
with my advice you should be bangin out 300 yard drives in no time! remember you don’t have to be huge to hit the ball a long way. Anyone can do it!!!

The golf clubs are the most essential equipment for a round of golf, along with the ball itself. You will need at least a few golf clubs for tee-shots, and also the short game. Golf tees are needed to tee the golf ball for tee shots. Overall, the golf tees can be smaller or larger tees, which tee the ball higher or lower depending on the loft required. In addition to this, the golf tees can be either the more durable plastic tees or wooden golf tees.

Few golfers play without a golf glove. Golf gloves are for the left hand, and provide extra grip of the golf club.

Pitch-mark repair tool:

Pitch-mark repair tools are used on the green. If the green is not entirely smooth in places, then a pitch-mark repair tool can be used to flatten the green with. By flattening the green, a smooth putt can then be made towards the hole.

The rise of the HSBC Championship has much to do with it gaining World Golf Championship (WGC) status in 2009. As such, it is now included as one of four golf championships of the WGC. In terms of prize funds the HSBC Championship is comparable with the Majors, as well as the playing field. In 2009 the HSBC Championship included seven of the top 10 ranked golfers of the time playing for the champions of champions title. Woods is quoted as saying:

“The success of the WGC-HSBC Champions last year was noted all around the world and I believe, along with golf’s new Olympic status, the WGC-HSBC Champions will play a very significant role in developing the game of golf in Asia and around the globe.”

Overall, the history of the HSBC Championship is a short one. It began in 2005 at the Sheshan Golf Club, where it is currently played. Invitations were given to the top 50 ranked golf players, although many US players declined to enter at the time. As such, England’s David Howell was able to emerge as the first HSBC champion.

English golfers continued to feature prominently in the 2007 and 2008 HSBC Championship. The likes of Westwood and Wilson would finish as runners-up in these championships. However, their defeat in play-offs gave victory to Mickelson in 2007 and Garcia in 2008.

As mentioned, the HSBC Championship gained WGC status in 2009 and with this the 2009 HSBC Championship had a world-class field. On the final day of play it was Mickelson who overcame a late rally by Els, with an 18 foot putt on the 16th hole to win the 2009 HSBC Championship by one stroke.

So, today the WGC-HSBC Champions is among the top golf championships. With WGC status the HSBC Championship is just one step down from the Majors, and most of the world’s best golfers will be there again in 2010.

1-Go to the beach:

If you live somewhere near the ocean, get some friends, ask your parents for permission to take the car and head out to the beach. Bring along a volley ball, a net, some sunscreen and an ice box with some drinks. Not only will you have a great time but they will get some exercise out of it. Plus you will have a nice natural tan at the end of the day, and best of all it costs nothing besides a couple of gallons of gas.

2-Bowling anyone?

Put down that wii controller, grab a couple of friends and hit the bowling alley. Its a lot more fun than you think it is. On the weekends some bowling alleys, such as freeway lanes in solon Ohio, have nightclub-esque lighting and loud music to have a club feeling so not only would you be bowling but when its not your turn you can jam out to your favorite tunes. A game only costs about so its not too much money.

3-mini golf:

No im not talking about the computer game mini putt, im talking about the real thing. You know where you have an actual golf club and a mini golf course. Those are a lot of fun, some of the holes can be quite challenging but it turns out to be a lot of fun when you and your friends are clowning around and having fun. Plus a round of golf shouldn’t cost more than per person.

4-basketball:

Most outdoor parks have a basketball court, NBA 2k9 is fun but the real thing is more entertaining. Go out and get your hoops on. Take a boom box and load it up with your favorite cd’s while you ball it up with your buddies. Plus a little exercise could help keep you in shape and it costs nothing.

5-rent a movie:
Renting a movie is ridiculously cheap now a days, and it’s a nice way to relax on those days you just don’t feel like doing much. You could even get it for free if you get it from the library. There are some great older movies that you might have not seen in a while, go get them from your local library or block buster. Make yourself some microwave popcorn and your set for the night. Free or just a couple of bucks depending on where you get it.

A golf equipment usually provided by most golf courses (aside from the golf ball) is the tee. The tee is the tiny pin like thing that you punch to the ground to stand your ball into. The tee is use in teeing off (the start of your first drive) thus the name. 

The most amazing golf equipment ever created (for me, that is) is the golf cart. Golf carts can take you from one hole to the other, though as I said earlier they are not allowed on the greens, they still lessen the burden of having to walk under the hot sun. This golf equipment can be acquired from golf courses. Golf players are usually made to use golf equipment such as this to give them a better and easier time playing the sport.

Many specialty shops and sport shops offer golf equipment. The internet is also a good source of golf equipment. Second hand golf equipment are even auctioned off the internet, if you are on a tight budget. Check out your local golf shop, sports shop, specialty shops, E-bay or Yahoo! for your golf equipment needs.

No, I am not talking about its color, but this colossus of an airplane is also environmentally friendly.

 But first, I have to grow up. For now, I can only but dream of that first flight inside my airbus a380 Superjumbo.

I don’t want a Porsche or a Ferrari and only dream of the airbus a380 airplane

Like that farm-boy from South Africa, Louis Oosthuizen who plays Golf so well that he conquered St. Andrews and won the British Open by what they call seven strokes, when I grow up; I will not buy a Porsche , a Ferrari neither will I buy  a customized tractor like him. In all dimensions, 850,000 pounds is a lot of money, isn’t it? Never mind that , this Oosthuizen fellow, with that in his pocket, went for the customized tractor. Along the way, he mumbled something about how he and his daughter were going to have plenty of fun with it in their farm.

I don’t understand that. I may comprehend it, but not understand it. Even where I am from, we aknowledgethat ’kila nyani na njaro yake’ which loosely translates to: Every monkey has its on way of ’chilling’/ hanging position on the tree, it makes me wonder how much I really have to grow up, if I am to attain my dream of having my own airbus a380 superjumbo. So I prefer to explain this with the commener saying and labelOosthuzien’s actions as a simple case of: Of fathers and their daughters?

You see, Louis Oosthuizen has grown up, I saw his picture in my newspaper when he and other South African young golfers won the All Africa Games title in 2001. I bet that image didn’t travel far; at least not as far as my airbus a380 superjumbo will be able to travel. But then, Louis Oosthuizen was called an amateur. An amateur golfer, fresh faced and eager to take on the world of golfing and follow in the steps of  the man whose academy had given Oosthuizen a firm golfing foundation- top South African golfer Ernie Ells.

Soon after his conquest of the green at the British Open in Saint Andrew’s,  I heard that Oosthuizen made his way to  Stockholm, Sweden. Where yet again as he fights out with leading fellow professional golfers in the Scandinavian Masters at the Bro Hof Slott course, he might grow up again.

I also hear that Oosthuzien, traveled there in a private jet. Some experience for him, he confessed. But as good a golfer as he is, knowing which size of golf club to pick for the perfect flight of the ball in the greens, I must say that he has confused the sizes this time.

Louis Oosthuizen bought the wrong big thing. May be, it is because he still  has to grow up too; but in case he does and becomes like that prince from Saudi Arabia-Prince Al Walid, I will tell him of the enchanting beauty of the big big big airbus a380 airplane. Yes, big is beautiful.

This airbus a380 plane has an upper and lower deck. It is rumoured that Prince Al Walid’s petrodollars could afford a staircase to the upper deck, he didn’t need the cargo area below either, so he added another staircase leading to his playroom below. Throw in a host of LCD monitors, a dinning area that can seat 14 , a stateroom, several VIP guest rooms and lavatories, and you have a flying palace.

I envy this Prince, all that space for himself. You see, when airbus engineered this superjumbo, they went out of the way to be generous. As they themselves put it

May be if I grow up, like him, I will have my seat in that superjumbo. Just think of it, dinner then maybe a game of pool followed by a drink at the bar. All this high up in the sky with my friends in my airbus a380 superjumbo….I  Like the sound of it already.

In fact, simple me thinks the whole shebang about wide aisles, more leg room, wider seats, a multitude of windows to let in natural design are all aimed at making it possible for passengers enjoy the driving force behind engineering the superjumbo: More distance and more passengers. For the ilk of Singapore airlines, Qatar airlines and Emirates airlines, the mathematics is simple: More passengers+unparalleled comfort+ frills like an in flight salon and/or bar+ longer distances+ fuel efficiency per passengers= larger market share= more revenues which can easily be translated into profits.

Mel Blount-Mel Blount was born in Vidalia, Georgia in 1948; he was a NFL Hall of Fame cornerback who played his entire career for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Although many people consider President Carter’s Presidency a failure, his peacekeeping and humanitarian efforts since he left the White House makes him one of the most successful ex-President’s in history.

Ray Charles-Ray Charles was born in Albany, Georgia in 1930 and died in 2004. He was a very famous blind American musician. Ray Charles sang soul in the 1950’s, changed to country and western in the 1960’s and became successful with songs like “Georgia on my Mind”, “Hit the Road Jack”, “and Unchain my Heart”and“I Can’t Stop Loving You.” Rolling Stone ranked Ray Charles as number 10 on their list of “100 Greatest Artists of all Time” in 2004 and number 2 on their list of “100 Greatest Singers of all Time” in 2008. Ray Charles was considered a genius in the music business and his songs still play in most of our souls.

Ty Cobb-Ty Cobb was nicknamed the Georgia Peach and he was born in Narrows, Georgia in 1886, he died in Atlanta, Georgia in 1961. Ty Cobb was MLB Hall of Fame Outfielder who played most of his career with the Detroit Tigers; he finished his MLB career with the Philadelphia Athletics in 1928. Ty Cobb batted over .400 three times and he won 12 batting titles, finishing his career with 4189 hits. Ty Cobb had a .366 career batting average, 117 home runs and 1939 RBI’s, he stole 892 bases, score 2245 runs, stealing home base 54 times in his career. Amazingly, Ty Cobb never won a World Series.

Hulk Hogan-Hulk Hogan was born in Augusta, Georgia in 1953. He is a famous professional wrestler who is currently signed with TNA, Total Non-Stop Action wrestling. He is a former WWF and WCW world Champion; the WWF is now the WWE. Hulk Hogan was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2005, he was a six time WWF champion, a six time WCW World Heavyweight Champion and the winner of the Royal Rumble in 1990 and 1991, and Hulk Hogan is also an actor, TV personality and a musician. He now resides in Tampa, FL

Alan Jackson-Alan Jackson was born in Newman, Georgia in 1958, he is a famous Country Music singer, and twenty-five of his songs were country number one hits. Alan Jackson combined mainstream country with Honky Tonk to create his own version of country music; he is a member of the Grand Ole Opry and was inducted into the Georgia Music Hall of Fame in 2001. He is one of my all-time favorite country music singers

Bobby Jones (Golfer)-Bobby Jones was born in Atlanta, Georgia in 1902 and he died in Atlanta, Georgia in 1979. He was an American amateur golfer and a lawyer by trade. Bobby Jones won the US Open four times, the Open Championship three times, the US Amateur five times and the British Amateur once in 1930. Bobby Jones was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 1974, converted to Catholicism a week before his death and died from syringomyelia or the effects of the disease

Martin Luther King, Jr.- Martin Luther King, Jr. was born in Atlanta, Georgia in 1929 and he was assassinated in Memphis Tennessee in 1968. He was one of the most prominent African-American civil rights leaders in the history of the United States. Martin Luther King Jr. was an American Clergyman who used nonviolent methods following the teachings of Gandhi. Gladys Knight-Gladys Knight was born in Atlanta, Georgia in 1944, she is known as the “Empress of Soul”. Gladys Knight is a singer-songwriter, actress, businesswoman, humanitarian and author. In the 1960’s and 1970’s Gladys was the leader of the group Gladys Knight and the Pips, the group had many hits including “I Heard it Through the Grapevine and the Grammy Award winning song “Neither one of us Wants to be the First to Say Goodbye” and another Grammy Award winning song “Midnight Train to Georgia, she is now a solo artist.

 Spike Lee- Spike Lee was born in Atlanta, Georgia in 1957, he is an American film producer, writer, actor and producer. Spike Lee movies are about race relations, urban crime and poverty. Some of his movies are “Do the Right Thing”, “Jungle Fever”, “Clockers”, “He Got Game”, “Summer of Sam” and “Malcolm X”, Spike Lee is a fan of the New York Yankees and the New York Knicks and he is a friend of Steven Spielberg.

Johnny Mize-Johnny Mize was born inDemorest, Georgia in 1913 and he died in Demorest, Georgia in 1993, he was a MLB Hall of Fame first-baseman who played for the St. Louis Cardinals, the New York Giants and the New York Yankees. Johnny Mize played in MLB for fifteen years, he had a lifetime .312 batting average with 359 home runs and 1337 RBI’s. Johnny Mize won five World Series Championships in 1949, 1950, 1951, 1952 and 1953 with the New York Yankees.

Julia Roberts – Julia Roberts was born in Atlanta, Georgia in 1967, she is a famous American movie star. Julia Roberts jumped onto the scene in the comedy Pretty Woman and has been a star since. She won the Academy Award for Best Actress in 2001 for her role as Erin Brockovich, she played in films “My Best Friend’s Wedding”, “Mystic Pizza”, “Notting Hill”, “Runaway Bride”, and the “Pelican Brief”. Julia Roberts has played in many more successful films, her brother is Eric Roberts and her niece is Emma Roberts. Julia Roberts now practices Hinduism and gives time and resources to UNICEF.

Jackie Robinson-Jackie Robinson was born in Cairo, Georgia in 1919 and he died in 1972-Jackie Robinson played his first season for the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1947. By the end of the season, Jackie Robinson was rookie of the year for the National League. He batted .296 with 12 homers, 48 RBS’s, 29 steals, and 125 runs scored. Jackie Robinson played through the 1956 season. He played his whole career with the Brooklyn Dodgers. Jackie Robinson broke through the race barrier at a horrible time in American history. Jackie Robinson won one World Championship with the Dodgers in 1955. They defeated the New York Yankees. This was the only championship Jackie Robinson earned in the Major Leagues. Jackie Robinson was a great champion for other African American ballplayers. Because of Jackie Robinson, other African American ballplayers made the trip up into Major League baseball. Now Major League baseball is played without prejudice between black and white men. Jackie Robinson was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1962

Sugar Ray Robinson-Sugar Ray Robinson was born in Ailey, Georgia in 1921 and he died in 1989, he was one of the greatest boxers of all time. Sugar Ray Robinson had 200 professional fights, he won 173 of those fights, 108 by KO, he lost 19 fights, had 6 draws and 2 no-contests. Sugar Ray Robinson served 15 months in the US Army with Joe Louis and they performed exhibition bouts in front of US troops, he was the Welterweight Champion and the Middleweight Champion, Sugar Ray Robinson probably fought too long in his boxing career, but was broke by the time he retired.

Clarence Thomas-Clarence Thomas was born in Pin Point, Georgia in 1948, he is an Associate Justice in the US Supreme Court of the United States, he succeeded Thurgood Marshall, he is the second African-American to serve on the Supreme Court, he was nominated by President George H. W. Bush, he is generally viewed as the most conservative member in the Supreme Court. Clarence Thomas seeks to uphold what he sees as the original meaning of the United States constitution.

For many beginners who play golf, it can be frustrating when your golf swing need a lot of practice. It may even lead you into losing the game. People take golf lessons to learn the perfect swing, but for someone who can’t afford the fee, they’re stuck with the trial and error they have to go through.

Your first step is to look at your clubs before making any changes to how you perform your golf swing. Good grips are essential for an excellent golf swing as you need to ensure you have something to grip on to. Worn out grips can be replaced or buy a replacement club.

Next step for your golf swing is your stance. A bad stance will lead to a bad back swing, downswing and follow through. You need to relax your stance and your grip. A good swing happens naturally and a tight grip will ruin your swing. A good golf swing has almost nothing to do with your arms; the movement needed comes from the rest of your body.

Execute a good golf back swing. Focus on turning your back to the target while pulling your club back and don’t think about your arms. After each shot, you should take the time to assess what mistakes you made, and retrospect what possible changes could be made. In 1851, croquet travelled from France to England from some Irish travellers who had witnessed it in Brittany. At that time, women were deprived from playing outdoor games as this was a men’s privilege. Hence, croquet soon became a favourite game to them. In addition, private clubs started to organize small tournaments, which made the game extremely popular, escalating also the clubs’ statuses. Soon, many of them changed their names to ‘Croquet Clubs’.

The game increased its popularity even further when John Jaques, owner of a sporting goods company in London, started to sell whole croquet sets. Croquet sets were available to anyone at affordable prices, a fact that boosted the game’s reputation and established it among the primary social and entertaining activities of high class in Britain.

However, Walter Jones Whitmore is considered the father of croquet. In 1868, in the absence of official game tactics or rules, Whitmore introduced various types of croquet strokes publishing a volume with coloured graphics and establishing the 9-inch hoop width. In addition, Whitmore assembled the ‘All England Croquet Club’ to organize the game properly. One year later, the club got its own base by attaining four acres at Wimbledon and organizing official tournaments.

In 1874, the popularity of lawn tennis led to the decrease of croquet’s reputation. Even women, who were the greatest fans until that time, were frustrated by the rules and the proper distance of the hoops that was stressful, leaving all the fun out. In contrast, lawn tennis attracted all the attention, forcing the board of Croquet Club to give up one of its courts for the new sport. Some years later, the association changed its name to ‘The All England Croquet and Tennis Club’. Finally, in 1882, croquet was entirely removed from the name.

Of course, croquet was a fabulous game and could not be totally erased, neither from the main title of the Club, nor from the hearts of its fans. Thus, a new croquet has appeared with solid rules and certified equipment. The game developed within a more methodical context, requiring continuous practicing and dedication to master it. In 1899, the name of the Club changed once more to ‘All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club’.

Croquet’s recognition kept growing and the game soon became an addiction in many countries worldwide, with the USA on the lead. In a period of twenty years, croquet clubs in the U.S. were multiplied, while the game was launched as an Olympic sport in the Paris Olympic Games of 1900.

Croquet has a long and rich history and despite all the ups and downs in its popularity, it has managed to remain a high class sport. Croquet clubs and associations can be found all over the world where the game is favoured, maintaining fierce competition and high standards. Being a demanding, challenging and fully rewarding game, croquet is a game that can be played from amateurs and professionals of any age.
